Kate Sandford (nee Smith) and DESCENDANTS (26 Dec 1865 - 20 Jun 1949)

Kate Smith was born on 26 December 1865 to parents Henry Smith and Susannah Smith (nee Love) at Sellick's Hill, South Australia, Australia. Kate was their first born.

On 8 October 1887 Kate married William Sandford at Henry and Susannah's home at Sellick's Hill.

They had 6 children:

Albert William Sandford - born 24 December 1889 at Hilton Road, Adelaide, South Australia
Benjamin Stanley Sandford - born 9 February 1892 at Plympton, Adelaide, South Australia

Ethel Daffodil Sandford - born 9 August 1900 at Plympton, Adelaide, South Australia

In 1914 Kate saw her daughter Nellie Ann marry Richard Sandford. (is this correct?)  They had 10 children. [COULD BE TRUE?]

On 28 August 1914, Kate's second son Albert enlisted in WW1. He is listed as living in Plympton, Adelaide, South Australia.

On 26 July 1916, her second son Albert William Sandford dies in World War 1 at the Villers-Bretonneux, Departement de la Somme, Picardie, France (Battle of Somme). He had never married and had no children.

On the 24 October 1916, Kate is listed on her first son's Richard's military record, aged 50 and living at Edwards Street, Edwardstown, Adelaide, South Australia, Australia.

Kate got to see Ethel Daffodil Sandford middle daughter marry Charles Robinson Wright on 27 August 1924 in Adelaide, South Australia.

Kate got to see youngest child Irena Frances Sandford marry Stanley Leonard Roy Cooper on 8 September 1934 in Adelaide, South Australia. They had no children.

First son Richard made it back from the war but died on 23 October 1948 at Alice Springs, Northern Territory, Australia. He had never married and had no children.

Kate died on 20 June 1949 at Alice Springs, Northern Territory, Australia.

Kate's third son Benjamin lived in Gawler in his early years, then chose to be a stockman at Montejinni Station in the Northern Territory before becoming a miner at Kalgoorlie in Western Australia.  Benjamin married a lady called Johanna at Kalgoorlie in 1940.  They had no children.  Benjamin (or Sandy as he was known) died 26 May 1950.

Nellie Ann, Kate's first born daughter and fourth children never married. She spent most of her life at Cockatoo Valley near the Barossa Valley in South Australia.  She died 11 April 1967. [COULD BE TRUE??]

Which leaves Ethel Daffodil Sandford.  Ethel did marry.  She married Charles Robinson Wright on 27 August 1924 in Adelaide, South Australia. They had three children:

Robert Andrew Wright
Gean Katherine Wright.

My understanding is that Charles Robinson Wright (junior) married Mavis Ella Hobbs and lived in Alice Springs, Northern Territory, Australia. Three children?

My understanding is that Gean Katherine Wright never married and lived in Alice Springs, Northern Territory, Australia before moving to Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia?

My understanding is that Robert Andrew Wright married Pamela May Knott and had one child?
