Thomas Lancelot Moule (1 Nov 1794 - 22 Jan 1867) and Elizabeth Barrett (1 Jan 1785 - 1 Jan 1865)








Thomas Lancelot Moule was born on 1 November 1794 at Ribbesford, Bewdley, Worcestershire, England to parents John Moule and Latitia Smith.

Thomas could not write.  The proof is in his signature and seal, written to sign his son's indenture papers held by Graham and Doreen Smith of Adelaide.  His apprenticeship was to be for the training as a currier.  This signature of Thomas is in the form of a cross and the seal is a small trio of octagon shapes, each about the size of a fingernail and all three joined in a line.

Thomas married Elizabeth Barrett in Aston Juxta (now St Peter and St Paul - Aston Parish Church), Birmingham, England on 22 June 1817.

  • HENRY LANCELOT MOULE was born on 20 June 1828 in Birmingham, England.
  • STEPHEN MOULE was born 13 August 1832 in Birmingham, England.

Thomas' mother Latitia passed away on 26 January 1826 in Ombersley, Worcestershire, England, at the age of 53.

Thomas' father John passed away in October 1840 in Worcester, England aged 79.

In the census of 1841, Thomas and Elizabeth are living at Upper Trinity Street, Aston, Warwickshire, England. He is a bricklayer. Living with children James, Henry and Stephen and Ann Barrett.

In 1847, Thomas is living at Aston, Warwickshire, England according to the Birmingham rate books.

In the census of 1851, Thomas and Elizabeth are living at Bordsley Park, Aston, Warwickshire, England. He is a bricklayer. Living with son Stephen and Elizabeth’s ? Ann Barrett.

In the census of 1861, Thomas and Elizabeth are living at Coventry Road, Aston, Warwickshire, England. He is a bricklayer.

Elizabeth Moule (nee Barrett) passes away on 1 January 1865 in Birmingham, England at the age of 80.  Elizabeth and Thomas had been married 47 years.

Their son James Lancelot passed away on 18 November 1866 in Newark, New Jersey, USA at the age of 48.

Thomas Lancelot Moule died on 22 January 1867 when he was 72 years old.  He died at 63 Coventry Road, Aston, Warwickshire, England. He was listed as a retired builder. He died if disease of the brain.  His son Stephen Moule was in attendence.
